Myth of Phaeton

Phaeton (son of Helios) desired to ride the Sunny Chariot which belonged
to his father. But only Helios could ride the vehicle.

One day he stole the chariot and rode high into the sky.
Unfortunately Phaeton lost control of the vehicle. The Sunny Chariot
fell down to the ground pushing the stars.
The Sun burned the land of Sahara and change it into desert.

This made Zeus furious. He managed to stop the chariot with his thunder,
but killed Phaeton. Son of Helios fell into the mythic river Eridan.

Phaeton's sisters, Heliadas, found his body. They cried so much after his
death that infuriated Zeus changed them into trees. Today their petrified
tears are referred to as amber.
